2017 Newcastle Lake Macquarie Career & Training Expo
The Newcastle Lake Macquarie Career & Training Expo is proudly presented by Career Links, on behalf of the Hunter Valley Career Adviser Association. This years expo was held on Thursday 18th May 2017 at the Newcastle Jockey Club.
The Expo is the largest event of its kind in the region, this year attracting a record number of local and interstate exhibitors; including major universities, leading training providers, employers and community organisations from across the region and interstate.
Over 3,800 students from 34 secondary schools attended the event as part of a school excursion.

"Yakka- Introduction to Work" Program
The "Yakka- Introduction to Work" program will support Aboriginal students in Years 7 through to Year 12.
The program will cater to students in the Hunter, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Port Stephens areas of New South Wales.
The program will introduce students to potential careers and will assist them to develop a career plan. The program will consist of work inspiration and work experience activities including career profiling, aptitude testing, career planning, employability skills and educating students about work health and safety in the workplace.
Stephen Schmidt the Career Links Program Co-ordinator will work with the schools to support the students during this time of transition.
