The Get Back in the Game program, funded by the NSW Government aims to inspire and support youth, aged 15 to 21, by assisting their transition into education, training or employment.

How Does it Work?

Career Links delivers the Get Back in the Game (GBIG) program across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and the Hunter regions.Our experienced team works one-on-one with young people to rebuild confidence, develop work readiness and life skills, and connect them with the right supports to create strong, positive pathways into education, training, or employment.

Who is Eligible?

To be eligible for Get Back in the Game (GBIG), young people must:

  • Be aged 15–21 years
  • Live in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens or Hunter regions
  • Not be currently enrolled in another youth transition or employment service program
  • Be working less than 8 hours per week

 

We accept referrals from young people themselves, as well as schools, community services, health providers, DCJ, parents, carers, friends and family. 

What We Provide

Through the Get Back in the Game (GBIG) program, Career Links provides: 

  • One-on-one mentoring tailored to each young person’s goals
  • Confidence building and motivation support
  • Work readiness skills, including resumes, interview preparation and job searching
  • Life skills development to support independence and decision-making
  • Connections to education, training and employment pathways
  • Linkages to support services to address barriers and build stability
