Career Links coordinate over 3000 work placements for high school students across the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie region each year. Our Work Placement team has successfully delivered work placement programs to the NSW Department of Education, Catholic School’s Office, Australian Independent Schools and TAFE NSW since 2000.
Work placement is a mandatory component of industry-based vocational education and training (VET) courses that students can choose as part of their studies for the NSW Higher School Certificate.
Students who undertake mandatory work placement have the opportunity to gain valuable employment skills and hands on experience in the workplace. Work placement provides students with a taste of what it’s like to work in a particular industry.
