Newcastle Youth Industry Partnership Program (YIP) for Schools

About the program:

The Newcastle Youth Industry Partnership Program (YIP) is designed to assist young people to transition successfully into further education or employment by making informed career choices. This is an initiative developed by Career Links in Partnership with the City of Newcastle Council and local employers.

 

The program offers participants the following services:

  • Mentoring
    Individual and group mentoring sessions covering vocational advice, pathways information, employability skills, job search skills, resume writing, interview preparation, and work and life skills development.
  • Industry Experience
    Industry experience that may include work placements, industry tours, industry talks, industry workshops and mentoring.
  • Access to programs and support
    Career Links will identify where participants require additional transition support and assist them to access services and programs suited to their individual needs.
  • Information Sharing
    Participants will receive information to showcase what is available in Newcastle. This includes access to Youth Links, a weekly electronic publication containing the latest employment and training opportunities for young people in the region.
  • Youth Forum
    A youth forum will tap into the voice, needs and ideas of young people across the region through various youth empowerment activities (feedback, advisory and leadership opportunities).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aged between 15 and 25
  • Transitioning into further education or employment
  • Living in the Newcastle LGA

Parental Permission

By signing this form, I agree to:
• My child participating in the YIP Program.
• Make sure they arrive on time to face to face and zoom meetings ready to learn.
I give permission for my child’s name and photograph/video image to be reproduced on Career Links’ promotional material and/or website (including Facebook Page).
I give permission for my child to travel by car/bus to industry work sites as part of Industry visits.
I give Career Links permission to access Personal Learning Plans completed by the school.
